Mark VanPaemel M.S., CSCS
NIAC Director of Personal Training

Mark has been Director of Personal Training at NIAC since coming to the Palouse in January 2006. Before coming to NIAC, Mark was a strength & conditioning coach at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. While in the Moscow-Pullman area, he is working on becoming Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) with the Washington State strength & conditioning staff. He is currently a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He is also a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting.
Mark’s specialties are general fitness, specific fitness, and athletic development. He works with a variety of clients who’s goals are anything from weight loss to preparation for an upcoming sport season. When working with fitness clients, he focuses on total body workouts that get the clients heart rate going between 60-85% maximum heart rate (depending on the clients fitness level) for a period of 45 minutes. The workouts incorporate both strength training and endurance exercise, with the goal being to build or maintain muscle mass while expending high amounts of calories. These workouts help clients to lose body fat, lose body weight, and enhance cardiovascular fitness levels. When working with athletic development clients, he focuses on building a good base of training to reduce the likelihood of injury and improve running mechanics, acceleration, and strength levels. These workouts help clients to lose body fat, recover faster from training, and enhance their athletic ability.
